2010-01-15 - We are creating a new website for IDYLL, Institute of Dynamic Language Learning to promote a learning system which helps students to learn any one of 151 languages at present listed on the website, more efficiently and with a retention rate of 90% for as long as the material is useful. The site consists at present largely of a list of topics to be treated (i.e. of plans). More and more contents will be brought online during the course of the year. Visitors can express an interest in certain topics, and these will then be moved up on the list of priorities.

The Creative Thinkers' Club

2008-08-27 Blackburn, UK: The Creative Thinkers' Club is about to be launched in Blackburn, Preston, Manchester and Leeds. Associated networks are springing up in India, Pakistan, Germany, Turkey, Switzerland, France, Spain and Portugal. Membership is free. The Club's guiding philosophy is contained in Robert Kiyosaki's book "The Cashflow Quadrant", a book that is worth its weight in gold, and available from Amazon and all good libraries. The Club holds local meetings once every month, but also encourages non-local members to join and to benefit from the information which will in time accumulate on its website. Among the founder members are Klaus Bung (of Recall Training Consultants Ltd in Blackburn, aka RTC), Salma Ahmed (New Delhi) and Karlton Whittaker (Blackburn). A temporary website outlining activities and topics has been set up (http://www.creativethinkersclub.net) and will be replaced by a more professional website soon. Members of the Club, experienced and junior, support each other and are looking out for business opportunities meeting the criteria discussed in Kiyosaki's writings. Members exude an air of optimism: Instead of seeing problems, we seek solutions. We do not make mountains out of molewhile. Faced with a mountain, we dig tunnels: we turn the mountain into a molehills. We do not say: "I cannot afford it", we say: "How can we afford it". Instead of saying "It cannot be done", we ask "How can it be done". Instead of competing, we promote co-operation. This is the attitude promoted in, and by, The Creative Thinkers' Club (formerly known as The Creative Tinkers' Club).

2008-06-22 - We are in the process of re-organising our website(s). Since our two main markets, schools on the one hand, and businesses on the other, have quite distinct requirements, we now have two separate websites devoted to them.

2008-02-03 Photographer Nasir Shah from Pakistan has launched his new website and we are gradually filling it with his work: weddings, portraits, fashion, and other kinds of work. Nasir has also contributed to Kismet, a glossy Asian fashion magazine published in Manchester, England.

2007-12-29 - Netscape will no longer be supported since only 0.6% of web users use it, says AOL. Internet Explorer, in spite of its numerous security weaknesses, is used by 80%. Firefox (Mozilla, and Seamonkey) have 16% of the browser market.

2007-11-06 - The Shahi Qila Restaurant, Blackburn, home of authentic Asian cuisine, among the finalists for the Tiffin Cup Award at Bellamy's Restaurant in the House of Commons, have chosen RTC Webdesign, Blackburn, to create their new website. The website is already in position in their domain. A slide show, three Flash animations and some exciting mouthwatering texts will be added during the next few days.

Do small businesses really need a website?

2007-11-20 - Some do and others don't. It depends on the kind of business, its location and on the objectives of the owner.

A BBC News article discusses cases from either end of the spectrum. Here is one of the cases where a web presence worked wonders, a business located in a small isolated village, with no passing trade, but a target market of gardeners all over the country.

We help our clients to get a good ranking in Google.

Put your web address on your business literature, on your business card, your vehicles, etc. A website provides you with unlimited cheap advertising / selling space.

If you give your business card (with your web address) to one interested potential customer, it is the same or, rather, better than giving him a fifteen minute speech about the benefits of what you have to sell or a heavy brochure listing all your goods.

RTC Webdesign's sites come with marketing advice on 'How to run your website to achieve xxx objectives'. A website is not something one owns, but something one runs, like a machine. It is a tool, not a possession, and therefore needs weekly if not daily attention. There must be something new on it regularly that serves your purposes and is of benefit to your customers.

Websites for authors

RTC Webdesign are preparing prototypes of websites for authors and artists. These are expected to be ready at the end of November 2007, and exact prices can then be given. At present we expect that we can offer plain html websites from £500 (plus VAT), CMS websites for authors from £1000 (we build the site and enter the content, client can do the updating himself), CMS and e-commerce packages for authors from £1,500. Hosting costs depend on size but will be moderate as usual.

Half of Lancashire's primary schools to be rebuilt

BECTA warns schools off Microsoft software licence

Schools should not sign Microsoft's software licence agreements, for the time being, because of alleged anti-competitive practices. As an alternative they should consider using 'open source' software, which can save them a lot of money.

School literacy scheme not successful

2007-11-02 - A report published by Peter Tymms, Professor of Education at Durham University, and Christine Merrell also of Durham University, claims that £500 million pounds spent on the National Literacy Strategy scheme had almost no impact on reading levels. Schools Minister Andrew Adonis does not agree.
